IPS FSS is glad to announce its Summer School in Geopolitics, which is going to be held in the Czech Republic in 2015. Its location in the heart of Europe makes it more capable of offering a comprehensive programme for our participants. Our experts and external professionals in covered fields will contribute to this event.
The Geopolitics Summer School has a highly interactive character, with a focus on the various geopolitical traditions.
The module offers lectures, workshops and final student presentations.
It also involves an individual and a group assignment.
Period: June 28th – July 4th
Preferred pre-knowledge: awareness of major political, social and economic trends along with awareness of political situation in particular regions.
Evaluation: final group presentation/project

Course fee: €390 (120 Euros per person for sharing accommodation)

Students currently enrolled in Bachelor´s, Master’s or PhD´s degree programs in Geopolitics, Area Studies, Political Science, International Relations and Economics and other relevant fields. There are no age or country limits for the application.
Geopolitics was for a long time forgotten and omitted way to analyse the international politics. With the return of revanschism, annexation as a political tool, or creation of un-governed and unrecognized territories its prominence as analytical tool comes back into spotlights.
a) become familiar with concepts theories of Classic, Realpolitik Geopolitics, NeoClassic Geopolitics. Critical Geopolitics and Russian Geopolitics,
b) understand geographic limits and potential of power,
c) analyse current geopolitical trends and threats,
d) understand the situation in particular region and external players.

The preliminary application deadline is May 30, 2015.
Approximately 15 to 25 students will be admitted to the Summer University.
Students admitted to the program are expected to participate fully, which means attending all classes and lectures.
A good level of English is essential for successful participation in the Summer University.
Preliminary admitted students will be asked to confirm their attendance and pay the programme fee within two weeks.

Reading materials (an on-line version will be at your disposal after enrolling)

Assistance during your stay in Prague
In case you are accepted, paid the fee, and find out that you cannot participate in the summer school for any reason, we will not refund the fee after May 30, 2015 (the sum will be used on administration costs, storno fees, transfer fees, labour costs and storno fees)

Students, in case of interest, will be accommodated in a dormitory of Charles University situated in University campus in Jinonice. It is within walking distance to the Summer School venue (1 minute)
